Newfoundland Seal Hunting Skiff
Under Construction, June of '09. From Chappell's American Small Sailing Craft. c. 1870
- 17' x 4'9", jib and sprit main, three rowing stations, decks and combing.
- Transom stern, raked ends, strong sheer and a nice long run.
- Western red cedar carvel planking over white oak frames. Copper rivets, bronze bolts.
- Timbers sided 1 3/4" white oak.
The Seal Skiff is being built between various projects in and out of the shop as time, money and energy allows.
It's a very nice design and one I am enjoying building.
